For us, these projects are a trip down memory lane. For you, they’re a first look at what we bring to the table. Here’s a selection of Rutledge Improvements we’ve worked on over the last few years. Some are redesigns of old spaces and some were built completely from scratch. All ended up pretty awesome. Visit our portfolio to see more.
BASEMENT
📍 BURLINGTON
We met this family of five in the summer of 2022. They had recently purchased a flip, and unfortunately, experienced a leak. Our first project with them was an emergency gut and reno of their bathroom. We returned this fall for something even bigger: a full basement reno.
With three busy kids, one with neurodiversities, Dave + Annie wanted to create a safe, fun, and elegant space for their family. Our team transformed a neglected nook under the stairs into a unique, sensory-friendly playhouse, and on the adjacent side of the room, mounted a swing and climbing wall. Further, we removed the wall separating the basement, bringing light into this new, open-concept dual-purpose space. Some other favourite features: a walnut wood-slat paneled wall, custom fireplace, built-in work station, and dry bar. This basement is fun, unique, and destined to inspire memories for years to come!
MAIN + BASEMENT
📍 WATERDOWN
For this job in Waterdown, we worked with our client to refresh, revamp, and update their entire home. Beginning in the front entrance, we added a bold, black herringbone tile – which ties in perfectly with the updated hardwood throughout the main floor. Note: when you update your floors (especially if you’re updating the colour), it’s important to consider the look of your staircase. We refinished the stairs in a beautiful stain to match the flooring and added black iron pickets, and a matching wood railing for a modern and complete look.
On this project, we also tackled three bathrooms! Which was extra-fun because we only started with two. The main floor powder room was refreshed with updated tile, fixtures, lighting, and paint. In the basement, we turned one large bathroom into a 3-piece and 2-piece. New laminate, wet bar, refinished fireplace, and a fresh coat of paint made this basement an entertainer’s dream.
